While I often go by "Thea" in academic settings, my name is Shanthi, a derivative of the word "shanti," which means inner peace in Sanskrit. I am currently a junior at the University of Washington Honors Program, pursuing a major in Informatics with a focus on Data Science.
What draws me to Informatics is its expansive nature—it's a field where technology, human behavior, and social impact intersect in countless ways, offering endless possibilities for meaningful work. My passion lies in designing interfaces that reduce user burden while creating positive societal change. I believe that thoughtful design can make complex systems more accessible and empower people to engage with information and tools that matter to them.
As a student interested in UX design and art, I aim to use my skills to create intuitive and engaging experiences by understanding and advocating for users' needs. My goal is to design accessible, inclusive solutions that empower vulnerable populations and raise awareness through impactful, meaningful projects. I'm particularly interested in leveraging my design expertise to explore the intersection of game development and climate justice education. I aspire to continue learning how to build beautiful environments, worlds, characters, and dynamics that captivate users and inspire them to engage deeply with meaningful stories and causes.
Here is a picture of me and some of my classmates at Unreal Fest Seattle (Fall of 2024). At Unreal Fest, I had the incredible opportunity to connect with developers, artists, and innovators from across the interactive 3D community. I attended hands-on workshops, learned about the latest features in Unreal Engine, and gained insights into real-time workflows used in games, virtual production, and immersive experiences.
